Sorry...late to this. Congratulations to both @BromleyMum_12 and @Just123.
Honestly, I think your girls will be so happy at the school.
Finding out so late in the day must be both so exhilarating and stressful.
Just for context, I am aware personally of two girls who joined in late September into Y7 last year and in 2022 respectively. Both seemed to have been fine and settled in well. It helps that so many girls turn up as the only person from their primary. So, there are no real cliques so to speak.
At one of the summer term events, I did speak to the admissions staff about people not informing the school till quite late about their alternative choice. According to them often it is parents who have chosen the independent sector, and they have completely forgotten to inform the school possibly due to their busy summers, lifestyles or simply securing the funds to pay. Also, their respective council will not yet know about that decision either as it does not go onto their system that early. Newstead will then only realise in early September when they do not turn up and then they start emailing/phoning the parents repeatedly only to finally receive a response of "Sorry, we forgot to tell you but....."! Legally, though they are duty bound to keep the place for that girl until they have official confirmation that she will not be attending.
