Thoughts please on a difficult decision for our CAF preference order - do we list our number 1 choice as the elite ultra-competitive QE boys (DS has scored 240), or do we we keep things close to home and go for Watford Grammar Boys?
DS is the one who will ultimately decide, but we are struggling to know how to guide him when he asks us for his opinion. We do not yet have the SWH score, but we are hopeful that the score would be enough for Watford Grammar Boys. We live in Watford. A large number of his primary school friends are likely to go to Watford Grammar Boys. He could ride his bike there in 10 mins. QE would involve a 30-40 min coach journey. The distance factor alone makes me think Watford Grammar is the obvious choice.
However, we are so chuffed and proud of his QE score, that the thought of not putting it as our first choice seems absurd, but in reality he is likely to thrive and be one of the higher achievers at Watford Grammar, whereas at QE I fear he may struggle amongst the highly gifted cohort that go there? Would his confidence suffer if he was around such intelligent and driven boys?
Any thoughts or personal experiences of either school would be much appreciated.
