Hi Mirroronthewall and welcome to the forum!
I am sorry to hear that your son just missed the Wilson's mark. In order to be able to appeal you would have to put the school on the CAF and be declined a place in March, then you would start the appeals process
I would also note that that there are a large number who "pass" for Wilson's but don't get a place and end up on the waiting list, which last year did not seem to move much
Re the appeal process - worth having a look at the FAQ here https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum ... 35&t=35032 which will answer many of the questions - and also some more info here https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/advic ... lification
Re your specific questions:
Have a read of the info and links and please come back with any other questions

Re your specific questions:
If you read the appeals info you will see that the overwhelming message for a strong case is "good academic evidence" - extenuating circumstances can tip the balance (but you will have to remember that in sending him to the exam you confirmed that he was fit to take it)Can I make a strong case for appeal based on underperformance due to the injury?
This has to wait until appeal after allocations in MarchI have emailed the school admissions team already as we have the evidence of sick note from GP date 4 days before the stage 2 exam, will they consider this ? or has to be thru appeal.
It would be worth discussing the case with the head and teacher to see what their views are, they will best be able to advise when to get the letters etc done - good to give them some noticeWhen is the right time to ask the head teacher. teacher for supporting letters. now or after national offer day.?
making sure you have good academic evidence - but also please be aware that the chance of success is limited in all appeals. What else would help my case.?
