Hi,
This upcoming exam, Sept 2024, Birmingham schools are offering to share the test results with Walsall schools. This was not the case a couple of years ago.
My son, in Sept 2019, had to sit two tests: Birmingham schools and QMGS. I thought he had two chances: if he does not do well in one test he may do better in the other test! However, with the results sharing option the child will only have one chance!
I am wondering if this time, it is possible to not tick the box "share my results with Walsall" school and sit two tests: Birmingham and Walsall?!
Is this at all possible?
Thank you
there is now a single exam across Warks / Birmingham / Walsall - can only take it once
this is from the QMGS site:
This year we are pleased to announce a collaboration between Midlands based selective schools.
This new partnership, known as ‘West Midlands Grammar Schools’, will incorporate all Birmingham, Shropshire, Walsall, Warwickshire, and Wolverhampton grammar schools.
For September 2024 entry there will one test for all children, reducing stress for candidates and ultimately supporting children’s well-being and positive mental health.
This one selective school entrance test will take place across the West Midlands Grammar School partnership on the same day – 16th September 2023, or within an agreed testing window on Monday 18th September, (certain schools only). With parental consent, candidates’ tests scores can be shared between all schools within the partnership. There will be no need for any child to sit multiple tests over different weekends.
Dates and key processes have been aligned and all applications will be directed to one centralised application portal, opening at 9:00am on 9th May 2023. (It will be available at the bottom of this page on 9th May). Parents will be asked to enter their home postcode and their child’s gender and will then be directed to the relevant website to register their child for the entrance test. Children will be tested at their local test centre and will be eligible to apply for any of the schools in the group. There will no longer be a need to sit tests at every school of interest. Following the notification of test scores in October, the parents will be able to list their schools of interest on the Local Authority Preference Form.
