Warwickshire • Alcester Grammar gender split

I understand the gender split is consistently boy heavy at AGS with approx 2/3 boys and 1/3 girls due to KES having less grammar school places for boys locally. A friend with a daughter at AGS feels that the smaller number of girls has made it harder for their daughter to find her 'girl group'. I want my daughter to go to a co-ed school as I think it is important for her to have contact with boys. However I am wondering if having 20 boys and 10 girls in classes or as in some of the higher maths groups 25 boys/5 girls has any other implications (positive and negative). For example on girls' confidence in traditionally boy-dominant subjects such as science and maths, particularly in a secondary setting. There doesn't seem to be much research on this particular scenario. I would love to hear your thoughts/ experience on this.
