Hello, I am wondering if anyone could help with advice on how to frame a possible/probable 11 plus appeal for RHS in Warks. Our DD achieved the AQS of last year, 212, and we are in catchment. Last year, the lowest offer on NOD was 214 and given the uptake in demand and scores this year we are anticipating same again.
Our appeal would be based on the extenuating circumstance that at the time of taking the exam DD was undiagnosed with dyslexia and also visual stress. We now know she has a number of compensatory strengths (assessed as gifted in some) which was masking the dyslexia, while the visual stress was causing reading errors. In a test using a coloured overlay, she increased her reading speed by 50% and her reading errors decreased by 88.5%. So it is clear that not using a overlay (permitted by Warks) will have impacted her results.
I sort of want to say that academically she achieved the AQS of last year while being significantly disadvantaged so she is clearly capable but while true I don't know how advisable that would be?
I am also finding out fast that the level of interest in a bright child working at greater depth across the board but with a SpLd is basically zero. Aside from the fact she is a bright child that works at a high level, this would also be reason for us wanting her to attend RHS. In a non-selective school with a high number of SEN kids she will always be bottom of the list.
But not sure how advisable the above two points would be? Thanks for any help/advice!
